Holi 2012 Season began on Vasant Panchami on Sat Jan 29. Phagwa Day is Thurs, March 8 and celebrated thru Fri, March 9. Gols are singing circles led by master artists and tradition-bearers of Indian seasonal and life-cycle song and music traditions, passed down orally thru generations for hundreds of years. Preserved in Guyana, Suriname and Trinidad and we brought them with us to the U.S. Now we must pass onto new generations an d the community. Through exploration of lyrics participants learn about the dynamic history of Indo-Caribbean people thru their laughter and pain, courage and playfulness.
